Tom graduated from the University of Oxford in 2006 with a first class masters degree in Engineering Science. He then worked as an electronics engineer with QinetiQ for a year before training as a patent attorney at a large London-based firm of patent and trademark attorneys. He qualified as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and as a European Patent Attorney in 2011.

Experience

Tom’s main technical expertise lies in mechanical, electronics and software related inventions. He has been in the patent profession since 2007 and has experience in drafting patent applications, in prosecuting patent applications in the UK, in Europe and internationally, and in European patent oppositions. He also provides advice relating to registered and unregistered designs, trade marks, freedom to operate, and assertion of IP rights.

  • Unified Patent Court (UPC) Representative

Outside Work

Tom has recently taken up woodworking and hopes to improve his skills over the coming years without losing too many fingers! Tom can otherwise be found enjoying music festivals with his sons or visiting family back in his home city of Worcester.
